Homescreen.me
August 27th, 2010
Homescreen.me is a new website, currently in beta at the moment, so invite only (my invite came through within a couple of weeks). All you do is upload a capture of a screen from either your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and include a description – this provides a nice way to display your current set of favourite or most used applications.
Here’s mine; http://homescreen.me/martinlucas
I’m not sure how far this website can go, it’s pretty static at the moment as there’s no way to share your screens (via Twitter, Facebook etc), no RSS feed for a user, or the ability to follow other Homescreen.me users – which would be a nice way of finding new apps. I’m sure additional features will get added to the site in the future. Also an app would be handy so you could upload your screen grabs straight from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, instead I took the screen grab and emailed it to myself to upload.

Hey there Martin,
Thanks for the mention about Homescreen.me. You lay down some very nice points about the site that make it almost useless once you’re past the upload. However, like you know, we’re very much in the early stages of the site. We just launched exactly 2 weeks ago, so this is still v1.0. What we’re working on right now and what we should deploy in the next 2 weeks is:
1. Email feature: You can email your screenshots directly to your account with the description in the body and it’ll show up on your profile page.
2. An explore page, where you’ll be able to explore our fabulous bunch of users with their shiny new homescreens.
3. Link to full-size images.
Moreover, limited social features, like ‘Fav’ing someone’s homscreen are coming soon.
Hi Preshit – thanks for the comment. I really like the idea of emailing your home screens – that will make it really easy and quick to share the screens, and the explore page will definitely be something I’d use.
Hey
Can you send me an Invite please ???
Greetings
Pascal
Hello Pascal,
I’m afraid I don’t have any invites for homescreen.me – if you sign up you’ll get an invite through, mine came relatively quickly.
